Diana MoralesKeynote Speaker May 16th
Diana Morales is a P'urhépecha artist born in Santa Cruz Tanaco, Michoacan, Mexico raised in Santa Ana, California unceded Tongva territory. She is a UCSC alum, majored in Community Studies and Sociology-Latin America and Latino Studies combined. She is the creator of Arte es Medicina a digital platform dedicated to sharing P'urhépecha oral stories and collective efforts through art. Diana creates her artwork to celebrate and bring visibility to P'urhépecha communities in the diaspora. As an artist, Diana believes creative work is powerful and sacred. Reimagining our world and strengthening our collective memory through visual art is medicine. |

We will discuss the different dynamics that emerged in the classroom space that turned it into a healing space, as well as suggestions about what makes for an effective storytelling space for healing." |
Dr. Jackie RabouinKeynote Monday May 17th
Dr. Rabouin counsels all students, with an emphasis on African, Black, or Caribbean (ABC) students. She has provided counseling & advocacy to those of various races, ethnicities, cultures, religions, genders, sexual orientations, & levels of ability for over 25 years. Rabouin uses cognitive behavioral therapy, feelings wheel therapy and inner child work to address concerns of racial/cultural identity, sexual abuse, generational trauma, anxiety, & depression. Her expertise was developed serving as a custody mediator & sexual abuse evaluator in family court & provided advocacy, counseling, & case management to people with disabilities at local agencies.She holds a Ph.D. in East-West Psychology from the California Institute of Integral Studies & a M.S. in Counseling Psychology from the University of North Texas. |

This workshop will discuss vocabulary terms, real-world examples, and resources to combat environmental racism and inequities in Santa Cruz county. Storytelling Lab: Fostering a Storytelling Space for Healing
Mark Gardner Keynote, workshop presenter, and emcee. I am proud to be one of the co-founders of i-Lab (Intersectionality Laboratory) and am honored to partner with the Sustainability Office this year! My session about Storytelling for Healing Space on Saturday from 2:00-3:00 PM PST is based on the experiences in a storytelling class I have co-created at Oakes College. We will discuss the different dynamics that emerged in the classroom space that turned it into a healing space, as well as suggestions about what makes for an effective storytelling space for healing.
Calabasas Community Garden
In this workshop, we will watch a few clips about the development of the Calabasas Community Garden, learn about the garden, and storytelling time from Yolanda about what it means to sustain community. About Yolanda: Yolanda Perez is a gardener, Watsonville community member, Leader, organizer and one of the amazing people behind the creation and sustenance of the Calabasas Community Garden and has been at the forefront of organizing with community members since the project began back in 2012. In the garden, Yolanda is the main coordinator and referred to as el Corazon del Jardín who keeps the Garden beating and thriving.

Aitanna Parker will participate in workshop. She is the co-director of BIPOC liberation collective. This is a mutual aid group for BIPOC folx in Santa cruz. They responded to the outcry of racial injustice, that we continue to hear today, during quarantine last year. Parker’s role as an organizer means that she allocates and advocates for resources. Whether it be money, clothing, food, it is important that these necessities be redistributed to those who need them.

My name is Layla Scott. I use she, they pronouns. I am a third year student studying feminist studies and politics. My passions are environmental justice, water restoration and BIPOC communities. I will be presenting a workshop on how members of the UCSC community (students, faculty and admin) can help create a more inclusive and safe environment at UCSC.

Whether you’re an avid recycler or can’t tell paper from plastic, our Fundamentals of Environmental Justice workshop will leave you with some beginner to mid-level information about social justice in the sustainability movement!

ESCALA is a student-led internship program where student interns research the barriers and challenges that undocumented students at UCSC face in relation to climate and to student success. Their goals are to educate students, faculty, and staff about the need of undocumented students and to propose campus wide solutions and programs to address these barriers and challenges and provide equitable education for undocumented communities.
This poster sessions will consist of 3 sections which will cover different focus areas identified in the research completed:
12 -12:20 Student Finances and Funding at UCSC
12:20 -12:40: Self-care, Health & Wellness
12:40 - 1:00: Non-Dacamented Internships and Work Opportunities
COLA panel
This panel will highlight the efforts for Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) being led by UC Graduate students throughout the state. We would like this panel to highlight the harnessing power of grassroots activism and highlight and honor some of the voices at the forefront of these efforts at UCSC by creating a space to learn about current updates and how we, as a community, can support to move these efforts forward after the strike was abruptly stopped when the pandemic started.

Are you a white person interested in organizing for racial and economic justice? Join us for a discussion with leaders from the Santa Cruz chapter of Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ)! With over 175 chapters and affiliates nationwide, SURJ moves white people to act as part of a multi-racial majority for justice, with passion and accountability.
Sustainable and Resilient Solutions for a Reparative Future
A moderated presentation of student design projects inclusive student working with the Rachel Carson Sustainability Studies Minor and the Crown Center for Applied Values and Ethics in Advanced Technologies. Presented projects will introduce a variety of tangible project deliverables but will all touch on building societal resilience to promote resonance of being in the world.
Colleges 9 & 10 Garden Club - in person gardening and virtual healing herbs presentation
We will discussing how the garden can heal as well as discussing herbs that can heal and mindfulness
